Problem Statements

How might we improve the relationships between youths and elders to break the generational “gaps”?

Elders and youths do not interact often due to the difference in their generation’s experiences, trends and behaviour. Thus, it is not usual for youths to spend their whole day with an elderly to bond with them as it might seemed weird, unnecessary and awkward.

Hands-on and team effort by the students from Nanyang Girls' High School in ensuring their prototype was ready for showcase.

The Relationship Hub was specifically built to foster healthy, happy and sustainable relationships between people, including youths and elders. Through many memorable and meaningful bonding activities, such as cooking, coding, drawing and games throughout the activity day, it allowed cross generational experience.

This allowed an elderly to understand more about the quick paced developments of technology, while also allowing the youth to learn more about the elderly’s life experiences and traditions in the past, preserving them.

It is unique as it is specifically designed to accommodate both the elderly and the young, encouraging interactions, and make the activities enjoyable for both the elderly and the young. The use of technology in the tree helps the elderly to forge fond memories with the youths and understand the their worlds better while still being in their comfort zone.
